Hollywood hunk Chris Pine has joined the cast of Warner Bros. Wonder Woman, opposite Gal Godot.  Pine will play Wonder Woman’s primary love interest, Steve Trevor, a role made famous on the 70s TV series by Lyle Waggoner.

Originally conceived as a dude-in-distress, Steve Trevor now serves as a type of secret agent liason between the DC superheroes and ARGUS, the agency headed by Amanda Waller.  Details are slim, but given that Amanda Waller will be introduced in Suicide Squad (played by Academy Award nominee Viola Davis) before the release of a Wonder Woman solo film, we’re guessing that Trevor will take on said pivotal duties.  Pine was also rumored to be in final negotiations for the role of primary Green Lantern Hal Jordan.  If he accepted the role of Steve Trevor instead, we’re guessing it’s a meaty role.

Wonder Woman will mark the first cinematic solo film for the legendary character, and will be directed by acclaimed director Patty Jenkins (Monster).   The film is set to open in 2017.
